According to EU regulations, the Minister of the Environment is required to promote the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme and create a scheme that allows for the obtaining of registration by the Polish organisations thereunder. EMAS focuses on the continuous improvement of environmental protection schemes in organisations, reducing the negative impact on the environment and care for the environment on the part of manufacturers of goods and services.
The Environmental Information Centre, as a unit of the Ministry of the Environment, attempts to allow interested parties the widest possible access to environmental information through various forms of media, including information campaigns.
Therefore, the Centre, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Environmental Protection, implemented, under the patronage of the Minister of the Environment, a nationwide campaign entitled ”Eco-management in Enterprise”, the purpose of which was to disseminate information about EMAS to the public and, especially, among organisations that can implement it. Regional conferences in all voivodeship cities were organised within the campaign, and during the autumn of 2010, trainings for entrepreneurs interested in the EMAS scheme took place.
