Environmental Information Sharing

One of the tasks of the Environmental Information Centre is the search and sharing of information, upon request, on the environment and its protection held by the Minister of the Environment, making copies of documents or data and their transmission, as well as the collection of fees in this regard.

Application for obtaining environmental information may be submitted in writing, by telegram, telex, facsimile, electronic mail or orally to the minutes. The application should include a clear definition of the expected range of environmental information and the form of sharing it (oral, written, visual, audio, electronic or otherwise). The application must specify the name and address of the applicant. It is advisable, although not compulsory, to provide a contact telephone number or an e-mail address.

Requests made in writing must be signed by the applicant, while an application in an electronic version should have a secure electronic signature that is verifiable by using a valid qualified certificate.

Consideration of the application is made in a timely manner, not later than one month from the date of receipt of the application or up to two months if the application concerns a complicated matter.
However, documents which refer to the publicly available register of data kept by the Minister of Environment shall be provided on the day of submitting the application.

Providing information on the environment shall be paid for under circumstances where:

  • the information is required to be searched for,
  • copies of documents or of data are to be made,
  • the information is to be transferred to a format as required in the application (e.g. electronic or on CD),
  • copies of documents or data are to be sent to the applicant by mail.
